I came back from the 26th Annual Tennessee Educational Technology Conference with lots of free materials and ideas. A great website is http://jc-schools.net/tutorials/index.html . A drop down list of powerpoints is provided where you can choose the "I Love Free TETC" powerpoint. I highly recommend you spend some time looking through the materials and links offered in this powerpoint.
Another is www. Thinkfinity.org. voted "best site for free lesson plans" by Edutopia readers. (For more information: http://www.tn.gov/education/thinkfinity/)
For healthcare instructors go to http://visiblebodycom/start is an excellent teaching tool. You must register and download the program.
Literature teachers can plot the travels of a literature story at http://www.googlelittrips.org/!
Learn geography at www.wartoft.nu/software/seterra !
Visit Mars www.google.com/mars/ !
Math teachers can calculate distance using the ruler, polygon tool and line tool at http://earth.google.com/ using Google Skyview version 4.2.
Of course, I can't say enough good things about www.quia.com . It is well worth the $50 per year cost of the subscription. The students love the activities such as the jeopardy games using lesson terminology.
Also www.teachersfirst.com/20/getsource.cfm?id=6808 will help get up to speed on blogging for us newbies.
I have so much to learn that I am feeling more like a student than a teacher keeping up with all the latest methods of teaching. What do you think? Did anything spark your interest at any of your recent training sessions?
